There are 3 grades of laser toner, new genuine, compatible and remanufactured.

The new genuine is obviously the most expensive option, as you are paying for the brand name.

The compatible brand toners are toners that have been made by a third party manufacturer using all brand new components including the drum. They are designed specificaly to replace the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) equivalent, but are often a higher yield, so as well as being cheaper, they last longer. This is not always the case, so we quote OEM yields for all of our products..

The remanufactured toners are supplied when compatible toners are not available or due to patent issues cannot be copied. They are obviously better for the environment, and are still fully guaranteed just like the compatibles.

Something many consumers are not aware of, is that the major brands re-use some components in their brand new toners that they have received from the recycling programs. Unlike compatible companies, they do not pass on the savings from reusing parts. Next time you see the advert for the cartridge recycle program, you will hear them use the words "used original cartridges", this is because they can reuse them. These programs are funded by the major brands.
